I've posted this message from PDX Pagans because I think we could also do our part in this season of giving.
Thank you,
Otter
One of the officers of our Marine Corps League Detachment has a son serving his third tour in Iraq. He recently recieved the following e-mail from his son, Andy, and forwarded it on to the members of the Columbia River Detachment in hopes that we might be able to help. I am forwarding it to you in the most sincere hope that in the spirit of the season you will know who it can be forwarded to next so that Andy gets more than enough toys and school supplies for the youngsters in that war-torn country that they will never again doubt the generosity and caring of the American people.
I also happen to know that the Marines themselves are desperate for things to do during their 'down' time and would really appreciate things like footballs, frisbees, games, books, etc. which could also be sent to Captain Andy for distribution throughout the area (though not all items will go to only Marines, they are like that, what they get they have this annoying tendency to share!!).
Please, please, please - forward this to everyone you know. I have never asked for anything to be forwarded and wouldn't even know where to begin to promise rich rewards or dire consequences. I just know, that this is one way that you and I stuck here at home can really make a difference, half a world away!!
You can leave my name and I will answer any questions anyone may have!

Dad,
FYI - If possible, please send toys and/or stuffed animals for the local
children. We have a bunch of contacts with the Marines who have outposts
in most of the towns (over a couple thousand square miles in our AO -
area of operations) and they can assist with the distribution. School
supplies are also well received.
Let everyone know anything they can provide is appreciated.
Thanks!

Re: Please help our Marines help others
Tue, January 1, 2008 - 11:52 AMTo add to this, I've found a list of Pagan military groups that need our help. I would like to start a collection point at Gaia's Temple to have a monthly shipment. Even if you don't attend Gaia's Temple, please help if you can. Thank you.
Peace,
Otter
